Tips and tricks for using mineral sunscreenHow mineral sunscreen worksBecause mineral sunscreen forms a physical barrier it works as soon as you put it onto your skin (in the areas that it's touching). This makes it super important to rub it in well in order to get an even covering. It also means that you don't have to put it on 30 minutes before you go out, but we still recommend allowing 10 or 15 minutes to make sure that you apply it properly. You should not mix your sunscreen with moisturiser before you apply it as this will change the effectiveness (SPF) of the sunscreen !! Will mineral sunscreen turn you white? You might find you have a white or chalky sheen after you have rubbed the sunscreen in, that's normal and exactly how it should look! The white glow will fade eventually, but is a good indicator of when you need to reapply. If you are using it on your children you might want to leave it slightly thicker in some areas so you can see when they've rubbed it away and you should reapply. If you find you are looking too white after you've applied you may have used too much, or not rubbed it in well enough! It may also be highlighting dry patches of your skin, so next time try moisturising before you apply the sunscreen. If you’re not a fan of the white glow (don’t feel like embracing the beluga vibes) or you have a darker skin tone try the Badger Clear Zinc Sunscreen or if you're used to wearing makeup give the Stream 2 Sea Tinted Sunscreen a go.
